Our Team

Our amazing volunteers bring the Safe Families movement to life in the community, guided by a devoted staff pouring their hearts into supporting isolated families, training and vetting volunteers, and partnering with local agencies to help keep families together!

Sherry Mott

Chapter Director

Sherry serves as Chapter Director for Central Washington, providing strategic leadership in program development, church and community engagement, and organizational growth. Drawing on her background in business management and supervision, along with more than 35 years in the Wenatchee Valley, she brings deep local knowledge and trusted relationships that strengthen the reach and impact of the program.

Sherry and her husband, Ed, are licensed foster parents in the state of Washington, and she has also served as a CASA with Chelan-Douglas CASA. These experiences inform the chapter’s work by providing firsthand understanding of the child welfare system and the realities families face during times of crisis.

Rooted in a shared conviction that loving our neighbor means showing up in practical, sacrificial ways, Sherry launched Safe Families for Children in Central Washington in December 2022 with the support of family, friends, and church partners. Together, the chapter is built on the belief that strong communities are formed when people choose connection over isolation and compassion over judgment – and that when families are supported early and well, lives can be changed for generations.

Hillary Slusher

Family Support Manager

Hillary serves as our Family Support Manager, working with parents in crisis, overseeing the circles of support, and helping support volunteers in their roles. She has lived in the Greater Wenatchee Valley most of her life. She spent several years as an elementary school teacher before pursuing a Masters in counseling. She worked as an intern for Safe Families while completing her degree and joined the Central Washington SF staff thereafter. Hillary is passionate about helping families thrive, and she is grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside courageous families and amazing volunteers in her daily work.

Our Leadership Council

Our Leadership Council is a powerhouse team of community leaders who believe strong families build strong communities — and that strong families are built through safe, healthy relationships and a “love your neighbor as yourself” mindset.

Barbara Brink

Barbara oversees our Family Coach Supervisors, is our Safety Lead, and is a member of the Advisory Board. Barbara and her husband James have lived in Wenatchee for 9 years. She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Barbara has done extensive work with troubled families and traumatized children. She is trained in Solution-Focused and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy. Barbara’s career and life experiences have revealed the deep need for prevention focused support for parents and children at risk of entering the child welfare system.

Dr. Megan Carter

Megan serves our chapter as a family coach and as a ministry lead for Hope Church for Wenatchee. Megan is an audiologist and the owner of Better Hearing Clinic. Megan joined Safe Families because she believes God calls us to love one another and our neighbors. As a single woman, Megan knows firsthand how enriching a gospel centered community can be. “I wouldn’t be as happy in the Lord as I am without a community of Jesus loving people constantly giving me truth that overshadows the lies I hear from our world. The only way to build up our community is to support and love one another with the joy and love of Jesus.”

Aimee Krueger

Aimee and her husband, Chris, own Krueger Chiropractic and live in East Wenatchee. Aimee serves as our Board President and as our Event Manager and along with her family, as a host home.  Aimee and Chris both grew up in the Wenatchee area and returned a number of years ago after living in California for a season. They have 3 active, growing boys. Aimee has served on the Grant School PTO school board for several years and is an amazing example of generosity and loving others well.

Jeff Johnson

Jeff provides business acumen to the board, having earned a Bachelors of Business Administration from Gonzaga University and a Masters of Business Administration from Eastern Washington University. He currently works at Chelan County PUD as the Director of Energy Operations, Planning and Trading, and previously at Douglas County PUD as the head of power planning. Aside from work, he lives in Cashmere and serves on the Cashmere City Council, and within his church at Living Hope Community Church. Most importantly, he is surrounded by five lovely ladies – his wife, Katherine, and four daughters whom he adores.

Katrina Desgroseillier

Katrina serves as head of Family outreach and peer support as well as being the Ministry Lead at Columbia Grove Church. Katrina has lived in the Wenatchee Valley since 2006 and works as the Director of Accounting for Town Auto Group, a family of new car dealerships.  She is married with five children and two granddaughters.  She brings her lived experience, strength and hope from her life in addiction which she overcame with God’s help in 2016.  She was able to reunify with her son after he was removed from her care and placed in foster care, and graduated from Triumph Treatment Center, a long-term residential program for pregnant and parenting mothers, in 2017.  She is passionate about leading people to Jesus and supporting families through the Safe Families ministry.

Tom Desgroseillier

Tom moved to the Wenatchee area in 2006, after receiving a B.S. degree in Environmental Science at Western Washington University. Tom works for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, where he focuses on salmon and steelhead recovery within our region. He is married and blessed with a beautiful family including two boys at home and two granddaughters. Tom serves on the Leadership Council and as a Family Coach as well as serving within his congregation at Columbia Grove Covenant Church. Tom’s support for Safe Families is largely derived from his own past experiences, which served to strengthen his faith and further galvanize the critical role healthy families play in child development.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers are the driving force behind the Safe Families movement. It takes many people working in various capacities to support families who are going through difficult circumstances. These dedicated volunteers live out our core values of radical hospitality, disruptive generosity, and intentional compassion. Volunteers serve a variety of roles from hosting children for a temporary period of time to wrapping support around families to providing services such as transportation, parent mentoring, respite care, and supplying tangible items such as diapers, car seats, household items, and meals.

We surround families facing crisis with caring, compassionate community. FIND A CHAPTER
